  • Level 2: Insider Info

This is for race organizers who want to view results from participants they recruit and compare them to national data. This level does not involve presenting or publishing the data. The results can help you understand participant experiences and inform educational content.

How to Participate: Email RHC@hsc.utah.edu to set up a custom study registration page to track recruitment.

Minimum Goal: Recruit at least 50 subjects.

Acknowledgement: Your race organization will be acknowledged on the RunHealthy website.

  • Level 3: Collaborative Investigator

As a research initiative supported by the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Collaborative Research Network, AMSSM members are invited to submit proposals for collaborative research using the RHC database.

Eligibility: Research applications can include up to 3 investigators. The primary applicant must be an AMSSM member. If the primary applicant is a trainee (medical student, resident, or fellow), a co-applicant must be an attending AMSSM member.

Collaboration Scope: The RHC has IRB approval at the University of Utah and data sharing agreements with Hospital for Special Surgery and the University of Wisconsin. We offer the opportunity to request aggregated/analyzed results from the RHC dataset for collaborative presentation and publication, with RHC investigators as co-authors.

Application Process: Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selection criteria include novelty, significance, applicant(s) research experience, feasibility, and the RHC data analysis team's capacity.

Funding & Support: The RHC team can support a limited number of projects annually without requiring external funding for statistical and administrative effort. Additional projects may be possible if external funding is provided (cost depends on proposal complexity). Proposals may be accepted without funding, accepted pending external funding, or not accepted.

Submission: Submit the completed RHC Collaborative Research Application and curriculum vitae of all applicants to RHC@hsc.utah.edu.
